Description: On September 17, 2005, the newly elected President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addressed the United Nations National Assembly in New York City. American President George W. Bush sat in attendance. Concluding his speech, Ahmadinejad made a plea to Allah to speedily bring forth the emergence of the mysterious Islamic Messiah figure known as Imam Al-Mahdi. This book examines in detail who Imam Al-Mahdi is according to Islamic belief. An essential study to better understand the religious dimension behind the threat that is represented in Ahmadinejad. A fascinating study and comparison of the end-time beliefs of the World’s two largest religions. Through this groundbreaking examination of both Islamic and biblical prophecy, a frightening picture of a very possible future emerges. A must read for anyone who wishes to better understand Islam, Bible prophecy or the spiritual factors and the underlying forces driving the present early stages of what may indeed be the final clash of ideologies and civilizations.

"A fascinating and provocative work. Joel has definitely expanded the frontiers in the ongoing exploration of the relationship between Islam and the rest of the world. A must read for priests and pastors, students and lay readers everywhere. Bravo!"
-Robert Spencer, Author of Islam Unveiled and The Politically Inncorrect Guide to Islam, Director of Jihad Watch.com

"In an era and an age where ambiguity reigns, Joel Richardson has written a book that is clear, well researched, and to the point. Few people in the Christian community have the courage to study world religions, much less invest themselves in it as he has done. Do yourself a favor; get this book, read this book, live out the truths that you pull out of it. It is worth your time, and more importantly, souls hang in the balance."
-Dr. Ergun Caner, Dean, Liberty Theological Seminary, Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA

"This book definitely provides a fresh look at Bible Prophecy in light of current affairs with the global rise of Islamic Fundamentalism. Not only does Joel accurately analyze Islamic doctrines and practices, but his interpretation of biblical prophecy is also solid - soundly adhering to the accepted rules of hermeneutics."
-Walid Shoebat, Former Palestinian Terrorist, Author of Why I Left Jihad.

"Joel Richardson presents a fascinating overview of how biblical and Islamic viewpoints on eschatology overlap, making a convincing case that reading this book and studying what the Old and New Testaments have to say about the "end times" is imperative for Christians today. This book is a wake-up call for Christians to learn how the future of the church, the future of Islam and the future of the entire world are divinely and directly interconnected."
-Dr. Tom White, Executive Director, The Voice of the Martyrs

Review Summary: al Mahdi vs. ad Dajjal Date: 2008-12-23

Details: The "Antichrist" in Islam is al Masih ad Dajjal (The False Messiah). Muslims recognize the Antichrist as an Antichrist and a false prophet.

If you want to know more about who Muslims are waiting for, read about The MAHDI. al Mahdi, Dajjal, and Isa (Jesus) are three different individuals that will all come during the End Times, before Judgment.

Please learn about our beliefs before you write about them. Or better yet, read about Islam from Muslims and from OUR sources! Be aware and ask questions from Muslims whether certain beleifs and Hadith are from Sunni or Shi3a. We would be happy to answer serious questions on Islam.

Review Summary: Complete Misunderstanding of Islam Date: 2008-12-05

Details: I normally refrain from writing a review that is in any way negative, preferring the old saying - "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." In that vein, this review is NOT a review of this book, but rather, a review of the SUBJECT MATTER of this book.

True Islam is widely misunderstood and therefore often both hated and feared in the western world. There must be true understanding between peoples and religions if differences are ever going to be understood and resolved, and allowing a blatant misunderstanding rest unchallenged is no way to accomplish this.

Without referencing this book directly, either positively or negatively, let me simply set the record STRAIGHT on the subject of Imam Al-Mahdi, Jesus, and the Anti-Christ, so that if you buy this book, you at least know the TRUTH of this subject as you read it.

First - Islam does not consider itself a "new" religion. Rather it considers itself to be the ORIGINAL religion of Abraham. Simply they see continued prophets as having been sent, such as Moses in the old testament, culminating in the last prophet - Muhammed. Muslims do not consider that their beliefs are anything new. Rather they consider that their beliefs are pure and true to the original as first revealed to mankind by God.

Second - Jesus is HIGHLY REVERED in Islam, and, while considered to be a PROPHET and not a trinitarian diety or divine being (the fundamental belief of Islam is there is no other God but God), he IS considered to be the 2nd most important PROPHET in Islam after Muhammed (phuh) himself. Further he IS believed to have been born of a virgin (Mary), to have ascended to God, and that he will return again in a 2nd coming, just as Christians believe.

Third - Al Mahdi is believed to be a teacher figure which will appear at the end of days, as a final leader of Islam, and who will spread the faith around the globe. In this regard he could in some ways be compared more accurately to the Pope in that he would be the leader of a worldwide religion with a consistent belief, yet he is thought to be much greater than even this since in Muslim thought all people at that time will be or become Muslim. It is believed that when Jesus returns he will confirm Islam as the true interpretation of the will of God, and endorse Imam Al Mahdi as the leader of this then worldwide religion.

Fourth - there IS a figure within Islam that DOES correspond to the Anti-Christ. He is referred to as Masih ad-Dajjal - literally translated - the Imposter Messiah (Dajjal also carries the meaning of False Prophet with it also). THIS is the correct persona within Islam to compare to the Anti-Christ of Christian belief.

The belief is based around the events prior to the Day of Judgment around the Second Coming of The Christ, when ad-Dajjal who is blind in his right eye, shall gather an army of those he has deceived and lead them in a war against Jesus, who shall be accompanied by an army of the righteous.

He will appear somewhere between Syria and Iraq, at which time Jesus will return and Imam Mahdi will defeat ad-Dajjal in Palestine. He will travel the whole world in forty days preaching his falsehood but will be unable to enter Makkah or Madinah.

This belief is based on the Hadith or the sayings believed to be from the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh). It should be noted that there is NOTHING in the Qur'an which mentions Al-Mahdi or Ad-Dajjal, or of Jesus returning prior to the day of judgement, although the Qur'an DOES teach that Jesus shall return for the last day of judgement, just as the bible teaches.

Here is a direct reference from Hadeeth to help your understanding of what Islam actually teaches on this subject, and what Muslims believe concerning it.

"He [the Dajjaal] would then call a person brimming with youth and strike him with the sword and cut him into two pieces and (make these pieces lie at a distance which is generally) between the archer and his target. He would then call (that young man) and he will come forward laughing with his face gleaming (with happiness) and it would be at this very time that God would send Christ, son of Mary, and he will descend at the white minaret in the eastern side of Damascus wearing two garments lightly dyed with saffron and placing his hands on the wings of two Angels. When he would lower his head, there would fall beads of perspiration from his head, and when he would raise it up, beads like pearls would scatter from it. Every unbeliever who would smell the odor of his being would die and his breath would reach as far as he would be able to see. He would then search for him (the Dajjaal) until he would catch hold of him at the gate of Ludd and would kill him."

Another Hadeeth states

"By Him in Whose hand is my life, the son of Mary (may peace be upon him) will soon descend among you as a just judge. He will break crosses, kill swine and abolish Jizyah[1] and the wealth will pour forth to such an extent that no one will accept it."

I believe this shows that Al-Mahdi is not in any way to be associated with the anti-christ of christian belief - rather - this person is found in ad-Dajjal. Neither is Jesus considered to be an enemy of Islam, but instead, Muslims wait with hope and gladness for his return.

Thank you for reading my review and I hope this is helpful to keep in mind for any who purchase or read this book.

Review Summary: Excellent read Date: 2008-12-03

Details: I found this book to be VERY informative. It explains end times perspective from both religions. While one might think that they are very different they match up well. One thing that opened my eyes is the revelation of Return of the Muslim Jesus. In the Christian bible we would be seen as the false prophet. The muslims see Jesus as a prophet but not at the same stature of Mohammad. The false jesus(FJ) sets to "explain" how the scriptures were misinterpreted to convert christians to Islam. The FJ will do signs and wonders. now the real bible tells us that in the last days "Do not be deceived in the last days saying that I am the Christ" or Paul said" If anyone trys to teach of a different Christ then we have taught you. Things that make you go hmmmm

Review Summary: Wrong impression, this is Shia not sunni! Date: 2008-11-29

Details: I wish really that Mr. Richardson would re-study his opinion of Islam. he is referring to the teaching of Shia Muslims, not that of the Sunni....He needs to be more specific. As a Sunni, I am offended. A very uniformed author.

Review Summary: Very biased vision of Islam Date: 2008-11-05

Details: I read this book and have to state that the author is clearly a biased person. Potraying Islam as the religion of war etc. There is in no way any link of the Mahdi being the antichrist. Both Christiantiy and Islam if studied properly are not much different. Their true basis is the basis of love, tolerence and peace. All Muslims await the return of the Mahdi just as true Christians await the second coming of Jesus. Yes there will be an antichrist and in the Muslim doctrine he is called the 'Dajjal'. Where is the Dajjal in this book. The author cannot take liberties on his own personal understanding of a religion. I cannot recommend this book to anyone because it is one of those books that will just brainwash you to believe one mans point of view.
