Description: The most representative picture postcards of the capital city of the country. The photographs are arranged in the order of the various tour circuits the visitor may follow. From the port - Puerto Madero and Catalinas, Retiro - the political and commercial center is visited, a walk through San Telmo to visit Plaza Dorrego and the antique shops, moves on to the Boca, on to the Riachuelo and return to the elegant neighborhoods of Recoleta and Palermo where the Rosedal rose garden in Tres de Febrero Park will be admired, to end up placing a bet on the horses of the race track, watching a polo match, cheering in a one of the more traditional soccer stadiums (River Plate or Boca Juniors). The hours of darkness are reserved for the Tango, for eating in traditional restaurants where the barbecue is in full view, or for a cultural evening in the Colon Theatre. It is all in the book for the visitor to recall or share the city's attractions with friends or relatives who have not been to this European city on the banks of the River Plate. Gonzalo Monterroso's texts set the postcards in their epoch and help us to understand Porteños, the natives of Buenos Aires. In a pleasing style, with many a wink and hint at secrets known only to the initiated, the text nicely complements the illustrations.

Description: Here, for the first time, is the Spanish translation of Noam Chomsky's New York Times bestseller Interventions. Since 2002, Chomsky has written a column for The New York Times Syndicate in which he cogently and critically examines the leading issues of the day. These columns have been published in major newspapers around the globe, including the International Herald Tribune, and have helped gain an even larger global audience for Chomsky's views. Yet few have appeared in the pages of US or Canadian newspapers, and only one of the columns included here appeared in the pages of The New York Times itself. Concise and fiercely argued, Intervenciones covers the invasion and occupation of Iraq, the Bush presidency, Israel and Palestine, Israel's invasion of Lebanon, national security, the escalating threat of nuclear warfare, and more. It is a powerful and accessible new book from one of America's foremost political intellectuals and dissidents. Noam Chomsky has taught for many years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he is Institute Professor in the Department of Linguistics and Philosophy. His 1957 book Syntactic Structures is widely credited with having revolutionized the field of modern linguistics. Chomsky is the author of numerous best-selling political works, including Hegemony or Survival (Metropolitan/Owl). Eduardo Galeano is the author of The Open Veins of Latin America and many other classics. He lives in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Description: Ten years of visionary artwork from an artist embraced by critics, spiritual leaders, and the general public during his lifetime • Includes essays on Grey's work by the renowned art critic Donald Kuspit and by Stephen Larsen, author of Joseph Campbell: A Fire in the Mind • The long-awaited follow-up to Sacred Mirrors, which has sold more than 76,000 copies and has appeared in five languages • 202 color and 93 b&w images Every once in a great while an artist emerges who does more than simply reflect the social trends of the time. These artists are able to transcend established thinking and help us redefine ourselves and our world. Today, a growing number of art critics, philosophers, and spiritual seekers believe they have found that vision in the art of Alex Grey. Transfigurations is the eagerly awaited follow-up to Sacred Mirrors, one of the most successful art books of the 1990s. It includes all of Grey's major works completed in the past decade. Grey's portrayals of human beings blend scientific exactitude with visionary depictions of universal life energy, leading us on the soul's journey from material world encasement to recovery of our divinely illuminated core.
