Description: Some of the negative reviews were obviously written by non-Christians. But any real Christian should be just as displeased with this book. The beliefs expressed are much like those of the "Heaven's Gate" cult that also believed they would be magically delivered from this "evil" world. Those who believe in the "end times-last days" nonsense belong to their own cult, and it is not Christian. Fortunately, there are good books available now, telling how the new "kingdom" of God will be established on this earth, and how it shall last forever, never to be destroyed. (Daniel 2:44, Revelation 11:15, Psalm 104:5, etc.) I urge all people who sincerely want to become Christians to seek the real truth, because it is now here to be found. The message from the Spirit of Truth is here, as promised by Jesus, "to guide us unto all truth, show us things to come, and glorify (the Christ)." So beware of false prophets and others who claim to know when and were the Christ will come, for as Jesus said, they know not the truth.

Review Summary: Why continue to be deceived? Date: 2006-06-28

Details: Tim LaHaye, Jerry Jenkins, and others in the Pre-Trib circle, such as Ed Hindson, Tommy Ice, Chuck Missler, Zola Levitt, Thomas McCall, John Hagee, Grant Jeffrey, Marlin Maddox, Perry Stone, Texe Marrs, John Walvoord (deceased), etc., continue to put forth the same deceptions that Hal Lindsey popularized decades ago. The notion of a pre-tribulation rapture is foreign to scripture, it is foreign to the teachings of the early Church, and it is grooming the Church for destruction through ignorance and lack of preparation for what is really coming. These men are novices and not prophecy "experts" or "scholars" by any stretch of the imagination; they are those who tickle the ears of gullible Christians. Why continue to be deceived? Tim Cohen, in his excellent book, "The AntiChrist and a Cup of Tea," provides biblically sound and testable evidence to show that the coming AntiChrist is known NOW. Not only that, the same author (Tim Cohen) has now put out the strongest presentation on the whole issue of the rapture EVER offered to the saints of God in Christ: "The REAL Rapture". If you really want to know the truth about the timing of the coming rapture, then you need to hear Tim Cohen's "The REAL Rapture" (based on a volume in his forthcoming "Messiah, History, and the Tribulation Period" series (see Prophecy House's site for details on these items, which are also available via Amazon).

Review Summary: Pathetic, horrific, unbiblical, ad infinitum... Date: 2005-04-26

Details: This book is filled with confused theology. It promotes blatant Arminianism. It embraces Open Theism. It is abounding in *ad hominem*. It's one *non-sequitur* after another. It's theory upon theory upon theory that is touted as fact under the guise of, "Any sound scholar knows that..." It is the epitome of tabloid prophecy theology.

I'm just about done with this book. I had truly hoped to get a scholarly take on Dispensationalism. After reading Ice, House, and Fruchtenbaum (all supposed Dispensational theologians), I'd hoped to find something of substance in "Vanished Into Thin Air." Instead what I got was one of the worst cases of postmodernism, sensationalism, and unbiblical theory, that I've read.

I am going to post a full and comprehensive review on our web-site (www.bridgewaybible.com) when I am done with this book. It should be about 2 weeks. Please feel free to visit the site and give me your thoughts.

In Him,

Dustin...

Review Summary: Tugboat Captain Makes Good Date: 2005-01-14

Details:
Scholarship in this computer generation has been exponentially challenged. So much so that, as an example, Mr. Lindsey would be suggested to hold a 'pre-millenial pre-wrath position', which is, to those embedded in the study of endtime prophecy, an immediately recognizable misconstruance of that author's belief.
In view of the danger of so easily committing any like theological faux pas, earnest scholars, whatever their field, would do well to keep "Vanished Into Thin Air" as a ready reference work.
Mr. Lindsey importantly outlines many of the major doctrines entwined in eschatology, unraveling the essential postions that have become entangled in public discourse.
His deftness at navigating the shoals and reefs of Biblical Prophecy reveal the divine wisdom of those early years of training as a tugboat captain plying the ever-changing reaches of the Mississippi.
Mr. Lindsey has pointed out that in this day and age of the blog, most everything necessary can be confirmed and where erroneous, corrected or discarded. Those who invest in this book will be encouraged that scholarship like Mr. Lindsey's will not soon 'vanish into thin air.'

Review Summary: The single best book I have ever read on the rapture!!! Date: 2004-02-13

Details: This is the single best book I have ever read on the rapture and all the questions related to that subject. Lindsey does a thoroughly scholarly job in examining all the scriptures on the rapture and on the second coming. He sets out by putting aside his pre tribulation, pre wrath, and pre millennial views instead seeking nothing but the truth from the scriptures; He also examines the history of the belief (this part is a must for reconstructionists). What ever you believe about the rapture; this is a must read book; it will challenged many assumptions and also strengthen others. I won't get into what Lindsey's conclusions are, I will let you find out that for yourselves. Let me just give this book Vanished Into Thin Air the highest possible recommendation.
