Description: It's a fact: 27 percent of the Bible is devoted to prophecy. But most of us don't focus 27 percent of our personal Bible study on prophecy. Why? We're confused. Or intimidated. Or both. This book takes away a lot of the mystery--and all of the intimidation. From the creators of the Left Behind series--Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins--comes a truly astonishing book. User-friendly for the layperson. Remarkably complete for the scholar.

Review Summary: Steven A. Janda Date: 2008-09-02

Details: The strongest argument that we are living in the end times is the fact that there has been 6000 years since the beginning of creation. The scripture says one day with the Lord is as a thousand years and a thousand years as a day. So according to our calendar we have finished six days and are entering the seventh day, which is God's day of rest.

Jesus taught us to be ready for his return whenever he comes. When he is coming is a non-issue in scripture. The heads up he gave his disciples was when they see the antichrist, to head for the hills, and do not even return to their homes. This is because Christ taught that when the antichrist is revealed that literally in the same day, Christ will return as a thief in the night. Then shall two be in the field and one shall be taken and the other shall be left. When Christ returns in this manner he takes those who are worthy to escape into the kingdom of God. So if you remain, unfortunately, you belong to the group that sees the antichrist and must endure the great tribulation. All of this is depicted in the parables of Christ. Unfortunately, it is not written in many books except the Bible.

In Revelation, Christ gives us a preview of what it will be like in the church at large when he returns as a thief in the night. Some have their candlestick removed and face darkness as depicted by Christ in the gospel parables. Others are cast into great tribulation. Others are punished by Christ and he puts them to death with the sword of his mouth. Some escape like some of those in the Thyatira church whom Christ says will walk before him because they are worthy. Others are kept from the tribulation because they have kept the word of his patience. Then their are those who are vomited by Christ into outer darkness because they are lukewarm. It all occurs in Revelation chapters 2 and 3. The rest of Revelation informs us of all the judgments to come during the tribulation to compel us to obey God so that we can be worthy to escape the tribulation.

There is no perfect church in Revelation, but there are those who obey God and are accounted worthy to escape the tribulation. Even if you belong to a church like Thyatira which had some there that taught a gospel of seduction, Christ said that there are some there that have not defiled their garments and will walk before him because they are worthy. That is very encouraging since before Christ returns there shall be a famine for the truth. You must find the truth in your relationship with Christ.

So what Christ warned us about in his many parables including the virgins, the stewards, the goodman of the house, the salt, the wedding feast, the great supper, two in the field, two in bed, two grinding at the mill, and the talents, all come to pass in Revelation 2 and 3. It is absolutely astonishing. By the way, the only book written on end times that reveals what Christ taught in this manner was written this year. It's called Ready or Not, Here I Come written by Steven A. Janda.

Are you ready?

Review Summary: Bible Prophecy Explains Current Events Date: 2008-01-16

Details: Writing in a popular style that avoids the vocabulary of seminary theologians, Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins target the masses with their analysis of current events as seen by their pretribulational, premillennial, and dispensational interpretation of Bible prophecy. The book is formatted on a timeline of sequential prophetic events and makes use of numerous charts and graphs.

LaHaye and Jenkins cover almost every conceivable topic and detail of predicted end-times, but make only an oblique reference to God's covenants with Abraham and his progeny: a description of the regathering of Israel, backed up by Ezekiel's "dry bones" prophecy. They make no mention of events surrounding Israel's birth as a nation. This omission of the early details of God's plan of the ages is admitted by the book's authors: "The book you hold in your hand is primarily about God's wonderful plan for man's future events in relation to this earth prior to that age of peace."

Even so, this book provides a very readable study of Bible prophecy, a study focused maninly on end-time events yet to be fulfilled.

Review Summary: Irrelevant Date: 2007-12-14

Details: I feel like this book could really be summed up with one word: maybe. Definitively, that's all I really got out of the book. Although the book is presented in a less insane light than some religious works, it still stands to reason that people have been proclaiming or guessing about the end times for about 2000 years. Devout Christians seem to be ignoring their Bible when it says that the exact year of Christ's return cannot be known. Why even bother speculating?

Review Summary: Excellent book on prophecy! Date: 2007-10-31

Details: This book details why those of us who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior have more reason to believe that Christ's return could come in this generation than has existed in any previous generation.

Review Summary: Pre-trib propaganda Date: 2007-04-08

Details: Just more pre-trib propaganda. There is not a single verse in the Bible that says the Rapture will be after the Tribulation. In fact Jesus told us the very opposite (read Matthew 24:29-31 very carefully). Revelation 20:4,5 tells us that the saints martyred in the Tribulation will be in the First Resurrection. The First Resurrection is the RAPTURE! The Rapture is obviously after the Tribulation! It's time to wake up and accept the truth. Place your trust in Jesus Christ not in fictional escapism.
