Description: "Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God" (Ruth 1:16). Like Ruth in the Old Testament, every Gentile believer has come out of the land of famine and into the spiritual realm of abundance in the name of Jesus. But unlike Ruth, we have turned our backs on the Jewish people, the relatives of the Messiah. We need to confess personally and corporately on behalf of the Church for centuries of persecution of the Jewish people, looking in these days for every opportunity to bless and not curse them. Once again, Israel and her people are center stage at a crucial moment in world history, and this book shows why the Church must effect reconciliation and why our prayers are vital in this hour. If we will make the same covenant pledge to Israel that Ruth made to Naomi, the Church will never be the same!

Review Summary: Embracing Israel |

Details: The nation of Israel has such a rich history that it seems hard to understand that they have almost no land and have never been a great world power. But biblical history shows that this is a people that has existed more or less to be an example of what God's people look like, and how they should live. There have been some rougher times in this country's history that their example was not the greatest, but all in all their heritage and purpose has been derived from direction by the guidance of the Hebrew Bible, and the promises that the God of that Bible makes.
Both in the Christian and Jewish churches, there has been speculation as to what the future looks like for the church. Based on ancient writings, Christians and Messianic Jewish believers follow Jesus Christ as the God of the Bible and the fulfilment of centuries of prophecy. Even still, much of the prophecies also spoke about a later time in history.
Don Finto writes his book, "Your People Shall Be My People," from years of research and study. He tells of the history of the people of Israel, and their plight to survive in a world that time and again has tried to eradicate their population and existence. He then goes on to describe recent history that is once again lining up with the words of ancient Jewish prophets, showing how predictions are coming to reality again.
He writes with a sad heart for the Jewish struggle. He explains that even Christians have made the Bible only about themselves and replaced the references to Israel with the idea that this word now represents the Christian church. He laments over the persecution of Jesus during the Spanish Inquisition and the Crusades. He recalls testimonies of those holocaust survivors that lived in the horror of this history.
But between biblical and historical reference, Finto shows us that we should embrace the Jewish people, and that there will be blessings for those that embrace their nation and people. He does this through the biblical story of Ruth. Ruth loses her husband, and though she is a foreigner, decides to return to with his grieving mother to his nation of Israel, and embrace his family, culture, and religion as her own.
Through conversation on Zionism, Judaism, Denominationalism, and anti-Semitism, Finto writes on the past, present, and future of the people of Israel, and how we should embrace their culture, their heroes, and their future role in God's plan for mankind.
Last year I was encouraged by a Christian friend that I should share a particular affection for the Jewish people as God's chosen people, and pray for them specifically. At the time, I was totally confused as to why it was important. This book allowed me to understand God's heart for the people He has chosen to call his own, and to deliver His son Jesus Christ to offer salvation to all mankind. I would recommend that everyone should read "Your People Shall Be My People" and similar books about embracing the future of Israel, and the affection God shares for them.

Details: Mr. Finto's studys are scathing and truthful. A lot of my quetions about the Messianic movement have been answered and any doubt about the authenticity of this amazing "New Song"(Psa.33-3)that the L_rd has begun has been completly set aside. When I use quotes from this book, people stop what they are doing and tune in. I can't say enough good about this work that Mr. Finto has so skillfully written. Bravo |
