Description: The end is near! You've certainly heard the phrase before. And though you may have neglected such a warning in the past, you cannot ignore it any longer. The signs of the end times are all around us. In Prosperity and the Coming Apocalypse, Jim Bakker reveals the "last days message" he received while in prison. This is not just a book of prophecy, it is a book of survival. Through careful study of God's Word and a reexamination of his earlier prosperity theology, Bakker reveals the answers to questions of concern for some Christians. Though no one knows exactly the time of Jesus' return, it will happen. Prosperity and the Coming Apocalypse illustrates how soon the end will be here. Are you prepared for that day?

Review Summary: He WAS wrong. Now he's right...for the most part. Date: 2006-02-04

Details: The previous reviewer, Dalton C. Rocha, is actually the one lying. It seems unclear if Rocha even read the book. Bakker never "[claimed] that he is God's prophet," anywhere in the book. He simply attempts to interpret the scriptures, and does so in a very humble manner.

While this book is not the first book one should read concerning the subject of Christ's return and the rapture, it should not be dismissed because of Jim's past.

I completely enjoyed reading "The Coming Apocalypse," not necessarily for the teaching aspect, but because it was clear that Bakker truly has had a life changing experience with Christ, and that his other book, "I Was Wrong," held a fitting title. Jim was deceived by the prosperity gospel and now knows it. Even thieves and liars can be effected by God, and anyone with discernment should see that Bakker is a new man.

I suggest Christians read this book along with my book, "Who Will Be Left Behind And When?." I don't agree with many of the particualar details that Bakker writes, but I do agree with the final outcome. The prosperity gospel is a deception, and so is the pre-trib theory that was never heard of until the 1830's when it was first invented.

Review Summary: Don't believe in this crook. Date: 2006-01-14

Details: At first who was Jim Bakker?A faker, a hipocrital, a liar, a bigot, a womanizer. And then this same crook comes, claiming that he is the God's prophet!

In the last about 2,000 years ; many people have claimed that Jesus is near, and he will return in a few years/months.All of then were wrong.Jesus isn't returning.

I tried to read this book about 10 years ago, here in Brazil.A pentecostal brazilian send this book to I read. After about one week reading this bad book, I return the book, to the owner.I never finished it.

If after reading everything, I wrote up, if you want to buy this book, then a last question for me.Jim Bakker wrote this book claiming Jesus is near.Since this, more than 20 years have passed.Since than, China is more than 3 times more rich.Never in human history, so many people had car, clean water, eletricity,CD, DVD, computers, etc. And there's people believing in a crook called Jim Bakker.

Review Summary: Right on the Money Date: 2002-08-06

Details: Jim Bakker has struck a resounding chord with his book on Prosperity and the Coming Apocalypse. Unlike an earlier reader who misunderstood Jim, he doesn't attack pre-tribulationism, but clearly shows from the biblical that the church may well experience the Tribulation. My question to the earlier reader is if God didn't spare the early church from such persecution, and they were probably a lot more pure in their expectations of Christ's return, why should God spare the Church of the 21st century from persecution, especially as it deals with the Church of Jesus Christ in the United States. We are a materialistic, soft, and spoiled church who argues about everything, and is accountable to no one. It's about time that God did some purifying, and that the Church SHOULD go through some of the Tribulation. Mr. Bakker is not embracing "Kingdom Now" theology, as the earlier reader suggested, and he should re-read Bakker's book to know this. The only problem with this book is it is dated as far as Y2K is concerned, and Bakker's insistence on a meteor is plausible, but not scientific. Maybe God would use His own creation to do the job. Only He knows, but Jim's treatise on prosperity is golden and should be read by all those who are in the wealth, health and prosperity, as well as the name it and claim it gospel, far more damaging than some other things. Highly recommended!!!!!

Review Summary: Doom's Children Date: 2000-02-05

Details: I saw Jim Bakker recently on the Larry King Show and thought the show was excellent. This book was mentioned so I bought it. On the Larry King Show Bakker came across as very sincere and a man who has begun to put his life back together. Bakker came across as being very rational. Larry King must not have read this book because this book basically says that the end of the world is very near and that believers should stockpile food and water in much the same manner as contemporary survivalists. One of the scenarios calls for a meteor or asteroid to hit the earth which would make the earth uninhabitable. This book was very interesting because basically all religions say that the world is going to end at some point in time. Bakker misjudged the Y2K problem (he said it could lead to chaos and nothing happened) and the supermarkets are overflowing with massive amounts of food, but who can what the future will hold for humanity?

Review Summary: From one side of the ditch to the other! Date: 1999-11-27

Details: This is just another book among many lately that are attacking the pre-tribulation view of the rapture of the church. The bible clearly teaches that the church is not appointed to wrath. Matthew 24 is not talking to the church, but to the Jews. Many get this wrong, and Jim Baker did too. Readers beware, maintain a literal interpretation of the Bible, and watch out for the Kingdom Now, Covenant Theology type of teachings which are continually spreading. They teach no rapture, no millinium, and no tribulation. I think Jim Baker is beginning to embrace these beliefs.
