Review Summary: Helpful booklet on angels and demons
Date: 2008-03-19
Details: Tony Evans writes, "Why do I need to know about angels and demons? Because they are fighting against each other, and you are the prize they're fighting for?"
In this 64 page book, Evans gives a quick and basic guide to the Biblical teaching on angels and demons. Yes, it is true that this book is not the last word on the subject, but that is not what it aspires to be.
Rather, this little resource is a great word to put into the minds of people obssessed with Hollywood angels. Or, perhaps it would benefit those who dabble with pop-demonology- teenage witchcraft, ouiji boards, demon-themed music and movies, horoscopes, etc.
There is gospel in this book, showing Jesus as the second Adam who forever rendered powerless Satan, who was already powerless outside of the permissive will of God.
Evans: "Satan's counterpart in the spiritual realm is the archangel Michael, not God. God has no counterpart."(41)
If you have ever had the joy of hearing Tony preach, then in reading this book you will hear his passionate delivery style coming through in his writing.
This is a quick read - meaning that if you have someone who needs this type of message and give them this book, they will most likely read it, bookworm or not. At $6.99, it is affordable for such a purpose.
For your own pastoral library... well, there are probably better places to put your money simply because of its brevity on the subject.
