Description: For more than a decade, there have been two important trends in the American economy. The first trend has been toward increasing openness of the economy to the international flows of goods, money, people, and ideas. The second has been very slow or even negative growth in real wages and a widening disparity in the distribution of income, particularly between relatively skilled and unskilled workers. This study provides a fresh and comprehensive analysis of theory and empirical evidence on the relationships among trade, employment and wages, and income distribution. It explores the full range of options available to policymakers, including slowing the pace of trade liberalization, providing adjustment assistance to trade-impacted workers, and encouraging investment in human and physical capital.

Description: Our trade deficit increases by $2 billion a day. Pharmaceutical companies and their lobbyists have such influence in Washington that Medicare, by current law, is not allowed to negotiate lower drug prices. We import oil on an ever-increasing scale, putting ourselves into dept with the Saudis, the Kuwaitis, and other Middle Eastern nations. With their windfall profits, they continue to buy American assets. China's booming economy and abundance of cheap labor are threatening our economic survival. We have mortgaged our fortunes, our principles, and our way of life.

In this comprehensive look at the real, human toll of America's unsound trade policy, Senator Byron Dorgan exposes the myth of "free trade." Indeed, free trade is not free; it is something that is slowly but surely draining away American prosperity. Sure, Chinese labor can drive down prices at Wal-Mart; at the same time, however, those saved wages-dollars that would have gone to buy these cheaper goods-are gone. Too soon, it will all come crashing down.

Major U.S. corporations continue to ship jobs overseas by the millions and, because of their influence in Washington, avoid paying a king's ransom in taxes. Many billions of dollars that these companies fleece from the government and the American people go overwhelmingly to investments in expanding production capabilities overseas. In short, our government is in the grip of corporate and foreign interests, and the American worker has born the brunt of this culture of corruption. How can we stem the tide of outsourcing? Why has the White House done nothing? Will the middle class survive?

From describing corporate profiteering to calling to action a lethargic, inactive government, Byron Dorgan exposes the truth about the destructive relationship between corporations and Congress and proposes strategies for what can really be done to preserve America's preeminence in the world.

Description:

Labor rights have traditionally been a concern of labor law scholars and practitioners whose work concentrates exclusively on domestic developments. In the past decade, however, the globalization of investment and production has expanded the bounds of labor rights discourse.

Contributors to this volume provide the first comprehensive view of labor rights in the international system of commerce. They consider the avenues open to worker rights claims in the global economy under international human rights instruments, U.S. trade laws, free trade agreements, labor rights litigation, and corporate codes of conduct. They address worker rights from the standpoints of human rights concerns, trade and development policy, and labor law principles.

Fourth Party Logistics: Is It The Future Of Supply Chain Chain Outsourcing?

About the Author

Serafettin was born in Turkey and has a Bsc. Finance degree. He then came to Manchester, UK to further his education in Master's level. He is a recent graduate of the University of Salford with an Msc. International Business.

He understands that globalisation affects everyone. He is one of the few people that can forward think changes, and understands that the complex nature of 4PL, will make the world a smaller place. He believes that value adding should be the initial focus for every business model, not only for 4PL, and utilising 4PL will significantly help achieve this initial focus. That's why he is passionate about this new wave in supply chain outsourcing.

He is a person that can refocus companies. He is the sort of person that consultant companies would charge their clients £7,000 a day for. He is among the few that understand 4PL. This book is written as a single case study, focusing on leading edge technology to assist the reader in understanding 4PL.

About this Book This book is for those who are looking to know all about Fourth Party Logistics (4PL).

This book is produced using 4PL methods, printed in print runs of one plus books in three global centers and delivered directly or indirectly throughout the supply chain.

Describing 4PL is like describing the offside rule. However, once you understand the principles it really is simple. You can then understand why some corporate companies become lean companies just holding IPR and Trademarks, with very little in turnover, however high GP and NP along with exceptional earnings per head compared to the industry Key Performance Indicators (KPI).

This is an educational and practical book that starts to address how 4PL can change your business. There are a number of other books out there that are too sterile in their approach. The author approached 80 consulting companies only one would put its head up to be counted.

This book will reveal to you the, who, why and where and without doubt get every Finance Director within different companies asking if they can use 4PL. The book covers the client, the outsource provider and the consultancy company that sold the solution and made it work. 'Fourth Party Logistics' is less of a case study and more of a real practical business guide. The consultancy company in the book was the only one to put their experience to the test.

Serafettin Kutlu has much to bring to the party and really does know his stuff.
