Review Summary: homework for Evolutionists
Date: 2008-01-31
Details: This book is an expansion of "Evolution: The Fossils Say No." Don't buy both books unless you have a bibliography to expand. I have not read Gish's still later book "Evolution: The Fossils Still Say No," but I imagine it is a still better buy.
As usual, Gish deceives the readers by:
--ignoring radiometric readings and pretending that Evolutionists assign dates arbritrarily.
--ignoring DNA analyses and pretending that Evolutionists post species on the Tree of Life in arbitrary places.
--playing up Haeckel's trickery and pretending that the recapitulation theory has been discredited completely.
Since publishing his earlier book, Gish expanded his collection of supposed apologies from the writings of Evolutionists. Through making such quotes, Gish has infuriated writers who say that they were misrepresented. The reader, then, cannot take any of this information at face value without looking up these original sources.
As usual, Gish finds fault with the Evolutionist case, but neglects to present the Creationist case. He does not even address questions such as:
--What is the evidence that Earth was created about 4000 BC?
--What is the evidence that a worldwide flood took place about 2500 BC?
--If all the life forms were created at the same time, why don't they all appear in the geologic column on the same layer?
Right or wrong, Gish's arguments are important for Evolutionists to learn, because they are frequently cited by other Creationists.
Review Summary: Old but still relevent

Details: This book is one of very few books that deals with interpreting the fossil record from a creationist view. Gish deals with most of the fossils that are relevant to interpreting the fossil record in either the creationist view or an evolutionary view.
"The Challenge to the Fossil Record" Is written by one of the most `decorated' creationists, Duane T Gish. Gish is one of the most feared creationists due to, not least, his remarkable debating record. He is a man of great talent, and has done an immense amount of research to get to the respected stage that he is at. Gish is the authoritative expert on palaeontology in the ever increasing creationist circle, and this is shown in his works.
"The Challenge to the Fossil Record" was superseded by the 1995 book from the same author titled; "Evolution: The Fossils Still Say No!" This later book is much preferred to the first not least because it is a decade more advanced, but it also has an extra 130 pages, and a very large extra section devoted to refuting the supposed human evolution.
This book is a must-have for anyone interested in the creation/evolution debate. It is very concise and detailed, and although it is quite old now, it is certainly still very relevant.
