Description:

Intelligent design is a big topic of debate in the educational, political, scientific, and religious arenas. But why? Is it in opposition to evolution? Does it represent Creationism? Author and national director for Probe Ministries, Kerby Anderson, explores the arguments, the truths, the myths, and the vital questions readers should be asking about intelligent design.

  • Is intelligent design science or religion?
  • How did naturalism become the dominant philosophy?
  • What don’t evolutionists want to admit?
  • Is there a scientific foundation for intelligent design?
  • How does intelligent design compare to biblical creation?

With a clear and detailed presentation of information, Anderson guides readers through intelligent design and naturalism to help them form their opinions, enter into the discussion, and stand on a foundation of historical facts, present day findings, and valuable insight.

Review Summary: Great Resource Date: 2008-07-27

Details: Nationally syndicated radio host Kerby Anderson has written a wonderful series of books A Biblical Point of View On...a variety of topics. This one on Intelligent Design is a great resource for those interested in the debate in educational, political, scientific, and religious circles. Anderson's insights here are backed up by the latest scientific research and he does a great job in defending Intelligent Design and the creationism.

If you find yourself in discussions about this topic, but aren't sure you at the top of your game, then this book will help get you up to speed.

Review Summary: Deceptive and Deeply Biased Date: 2008-07-12

Details: I have tried hard to believe otherwise, but after reading this book I can only come to the conclusion that the author's claim - the claim that this book would "carefuly examine the scientific evidence and dig deep for the facts" is a dishonest attempt to make you think he is unbiased so that his arguments will seem more convincing. Kerby Anderson clearly believes in the truth of Intelligent Design and he wants to convince others of its truth as well. Unfortunately, the strength of his convictions have prvented him from being either careful or thoughtful.

I am an individual who wants to speak truth and avoid ideology. In the arguments around intelligent design I have seen both sides let their passion get the better of them. I bought this book because it claimed to be the thoughtful unbiased book I had been hoping for. I was clearly decieved.

This book presents the weakest arguments for evolution in order to be able to easily refute them, it cherry-picks scientific evidence, and it mis-represents supporters of evolution in order to make its point.

If you want to buy this book because you are going to debate a friend of yours who believes in evolution, this book might help if your friend is not well informed on the topic. If, on the other hand, you want to hear the various arguments for and against intelligent design in order to come to your own conclusion, please avoid this book.
