Description: Readers will find author Kenneth Poppe a knowledgeable, easy–to–follow guide as he focuses on the origin and nature of the species called Homo sapiens—man. Presented with energy and humor, this up–to–date resource pulls no punches in its conclusion. All aspects of humanity that make us unique among life–forms, argues Poppe, were designed and implemented at the will of a supernatural Being. This is where the evidence points. With a special gift for helpful analogies, good examples, and clear explanations, the author blows the lid off Darwinian myths surrounding issues like - evidence for prehistoric man
- structures and behaviors thought to be remnants of earlier evolutionary steps
- the beginning of speech
- the origin of morality
Highly readable for anyone with a general background and superb for students and parents, as well as homeschoolers and educators who wish to present a complete picture of origins science.

Review Summary: Hard Fact. |

Details: I believe this subject is of prime importance because of the implications of the answer. If Darwin is right and we are descended from the sludge to monkeys and into man than we are little more than animals who rely on instinct, souless and without a future. There is no good and evil, and we can hardly be held accountable for our actions since we are nothing more than apes who can communicate through speech. On the other hand if there is a larger plan for us and a Creator than we have a hope and a future, and we are held to a higher standard. It is a social, scientific, moral, and religious issue.
Thank God pure science is on the side of Creationism.
I believe this book and others like it NEED to be read by those who are bombarded by the religion of Darwinism day after day in the nations school system and in the media. It will help provide a clearer picture for those who are undecided and give ammunition for those who believe we are more than intelligent banana eaters.
The book itself can be a hard read at times. As the stage is set early in the book the author seems to bounce around between points he is trying to make, making it somewhat disjointed. He really hits his stride in the middle and will provide the reader with some "wow" moments as he drives home truths that a Darwinist would be hard pressed to combat. Although many of his points are somewhat technical in nature, you can tell they are well researched and based on cold hard fact instead of conjecture. I must point out that Mr. Poppe does have what might be termed a different take on the timeline for creation, one that some may not agree with but that he certainly makes an interesting case for. The end of the book has a geologic timeline and a list of resources for those interested in more on the subject.
In all I found the book "Exposing Darwinism's Weakest Link" to be extremely well researched by an expert and it contains a variety of valid arguments. |

Review Summary: Fresh look at intelligent design |

Details: Exposing Darwinism's Weakest Link by Kenneth Poppe is the latest book promoting Intelligent Design (without ever using that term) in the Christian canon. The reviews on Amazon about this book fall into two categories: Christians raving and giving it 5 stars, and evolutionists poking holes in the book and giving it one star. I hope that my review will be a bit more balanced. I have a difficult time reconciling the six days of creation in the Bible with the billions years of fossil history, and this is a true struggle for a Christian. I have a logical mind; I seek out facts, analyze data, and look for answers based on what I find. That's an exceptionally difficult job in the world of evolution/creationism. Most books are apologetics for either side without giving credence to any opinion other than theirs. Dissenters are considered idiots with no ground to stand on. I enjoyed reading Poppe's book, because as a science teacher, he has a better understanding of what recent discoveries are and what science (without distortion) says. I find his view of creation to be very credible: days weren't necessarily 24 hour increments, so the big bang, and development of creatures found in the fossil record stand as accurate. However, evolution as explained by die-hard Dawinists doesn't stand up to the actual fossil record. Poppe uses several examples to prove his point, some of them using statistics that were a little over my head. My one complaint with the book is that Poppe gets a little vitriolic at times, falling into the same trap as previous apologists. He talks down to anyone having a differing opinion than his own, and even though I agree with him, it grated on my nerves. The Christian community needs a book like this written without bias or anger toward the opposition in order for them to read it without feeling attacked. Poppe is a very intelligent man who makes understanding creation and intelligent design easier for Christians, and I am grateful for all that I learned from this book. |

Review Summary: Thought-provoking |

Details: "Exposing Darwinism's Weakest Link" by Kenneth Poppe is a fascinating book that attempts to reconcile the creation account of Genesis with modern day geology. This work is filled with intelligence and thought-provoking facts, yet it is written to be understandable. The author proves, in my opinion, that there is more than one weak link in the theory of evolution.
My favorite parts of this book include the timeline that broke down scientific theory to fit into each day of creation, the limited list of relevant resources that provides the comments of the author on various resources cited in the book, and the incredible quotes that head several of the chapters and sections of the work. There is also a valuable index of terms so that the reader can easily look up specific topics to read about. Perhaps this should be taught in school...

Review Summary: Nothing but a Rehash |
Date: 2008-05-26 |

|
Details: Dr. Poppe's arguments are nothing but a rehash of other creationist straw-men that have, time and again, been refuted by those who actually do evolutionary science. To read through the book (as I had the distinct misfortune of doing) is to take a stroll down creationist memory lane, wherein such long-standing canards as "no transitional fossils!" and "the Earth is special!" are trotted out as if the author needed to share these heretofore unknown yet utterly devastating arguments. Though I can't in good conscience fully recommend such things, if one is truly set on reading a book in favour of creationism, I would advise looking elsewhere. |

Details: Dr. Poppe has done an excellent job of pointing out the flaws that exist in Darwinism. He has even appeared on a talk show on the Christian radio station in Michigan about this subject. I think anyone who has any opinion of evolution should pick this book up. |
