Description: The Isaiah Effect: Decoding the Lost Science of Prayer and Prophesy draws on new discoveries in quantum physics, as well as a variety of spiritual traditions and religious documents--including Tibetan, Mayan, and Hopi prophecies; Nostradamus; and the Dead Sea Scrolls. From these sources, author Gregg Braden believes that he has recovered "a lost science with the power to bring a lasting end to all war, disease, and suffering; initiate an unprecedented era of peace and cooperation between governments and nations; render destructive patterns of weather harmless; bring lasting healing to our bodies; and redefine ancient prophecies of devastation and catastrophic loss of life." Mass prayer is the technique that will allow all of these goals to be achieved, Braden says: "the choice of many people, focused in a specific manner, has a direct and measurable effect on our quality of life." The book includes careful readings of ancient texts, prophetic pronouncements, and mini-travelogues (Braden leads groups to visit sacred sites around the world), and its arguments may strike some readers as far-fetched. But Braden's basic idea--that hope can change the world in concrete ways--is a very good one.

Review Summary: Affected by 'Effect' |

Details: I once belonged to a cult. Oh, the things that I heard and was encouraged to believe and accept as true. It wasn't like other cults. I was free to come and go as I pleased but I still felt trapped and every time I left that place...that wretched, horid place...I felt like I was going to throw up. But I eventually found the courage within myself to leave this sick and twisted place. Oh, they did a great job of "brainwashing" me. For years I felt the affects of this cult; low self esteem, insomnia, depression. Now, after 20+ years of being away from that cult I finally have the strength to tell people the cult I once belonged to...
The Christian Church.
I think I just set myself up to be booed and hissed. I think I'm going to make a few people angry with that statement. But you know what, so what? Does this mean that I am an atheist? No. Just because I don't belong to a "traditional" religion and follow blindly their dogmas and creeds, rites and rituals does not mean I don't believe in God...err...strike that...I forgot...I don't believe in God...
I KNOW there is God.
This incredibly wonderful book by Greg Braden is a book that will send the "traditional religionist" into a tailspin because it contradicts things most people believe; that God is 'out there' somewhere and if you pray hard enough and long enough and you're 'good enough' and you just happen to be praying on day where God might be in a good and jovial mood, you just might get your prayers heard and if you're lucky enough, you might get one of them answered.
This book reinforces the idea that we are always in prayer/always in communion with God. How can the created be separate from the creator? How can a wave be separate from the ocean? How can life be separate from living? Tradition religions have done a terrific job of making Almighty God small and weak and powerless. How can something that is all-mighty be thwarted by sin..error...mistakes? God is centered in what God holds as "good and very good..." God only know Itself and God is Love and Love only knows Love and the only thing Love does is extend Itself always and in all ways mment after moment after moment because to God/Love, all there is now and "now is always the accepted time..."
I stopped praying to God a long time ago. Now I pray 'through' God...of an awareness that all things are already within me. Many people would call this materialism, but all things that are in the physical world are but symbols of things that are already present in the spiritual world. Everything in this world of form - including you - is at its essence, invisible and this is what Braden asserts over and over again.
There are some people who feel very threatened when one has the courage to say and mean, "I and the Father are One..." and over 2,000 years ago most people still felt the same way when a young Jewish carpenter began his ministry. So threatened were they, that they killed him. But he had the last laugh, didn't he? How can you kill Truth...the invisible...God? You can't. And that very essence...indeed, that very Presence is within us now and is at our root, the Truth of who we are.
There will be those of you who scoff at this review because maybe I challenged you...but believe it or not...it was you that brought you to this place. Maybe you needed to read this review. Maybe I gave you something to think about and believe me, I don't want to change what you hold as true but don't try and convince me what I hold as true, either.
This book truly had a powerful affect on me and every day I give a prayer of thanks that I am free to choose again and again and again what I desire to have God be in my life.
Peace and Blessings,
john, 'the Light Coach'

Review Summary: Great book with a positive point of view |

Details: Braden's research and erudition offers a unique blend of practical advice, hope, and insight to ancient texts, prayer, and the ultimate direction humanity may take with regards the pressing problems now facing us as a species. According to Braden, ancient prophecy often points toward life scenarios of chaos, disruption, death, suffering, and a world spiraling out of control. But these ultimate paths can be averted by choosing other possible outcomes. The trick, of course, is the transformation of human consciousness of an order of magnitude introducing new choices, and (more importantly) new ways-of-being-in-the-world.
Braden speaks eloquently on behalf of the new science and demonstrates keen insight on the evolving concepts of time, change, and transformation. Time or fate is not predestined according to Braden, but instead can be manipulated to specific outcomes. Within this rubric, numerous altered outcomse are possible simply by changing one's beliefs; adopting positive affirmations, or asserting alternative claims. Within this matrix, new contexts of value are reordered taking us to new future possibilities.
The stories in the book are uplifting and in confluence with the thesis of the book. This covers the widest possible spectrum of consciousness from health and healing, to establishing new collective relationships both with the human and non-human world.
If Braden is correct, there is hope that humanity will finally wake up from its collective sombalance and start choosing life, instead of death and dysfunction.
Uplifting book.

Review Summary: Another piece of the puzzle |

Details: I found this book to be an enjoyable read, and see it as another piece in the puzzle of discovering the meaning of life. Because of Braden's foundation in the technology field the book has a very scientific "feel" to it, and should appeal to anyone with an orientation toward the technical. I really liked the idea of non-denominational religion that emerges out of his analysis of Isaiah's approach to prayer. |

Review Summary: "One of the best books about the law of atraction and parallel universes I have read" |

Details: This is one of the best books written about the law of atraction, Gregg Braden explains in simple words what he understood is written in the Isaiah Scroll! He has traveled to many countries, in search for Sacred Writtings that shed some light into a special way of praying, and taping to paralel realities! He's gone to Tibetan monasteries, Egipt, and other places, looking for answers!! He has knowledge in Shamanism, and to his opinion he sees a lynk between Shamanic knowledge, what the Isaiah Scroll says and documents of the Essenes, I do share his opinion, and found his book very helpful in my studies about paralel universes. The book also talk about healing, global peace and unity!!! |
