Description: When Whit returns from a lengthy stay in the Middle East, the entire town of Odyssey turns out for a joyous homecoming celebration complete with fanfare and fireworks But for Jack, Whit's arrival means an uneasy reunion - and a tough decision about the future. Then, the phrase "fools rush in" takes on new significance for Eugene when he neglects to seek God's direction in his relationship with Katrina. Meanwhile, it looks like the mission board isn't quite finished with Whit, and an offer for continued foreign ministry is on the table. Will he choose to stay on at Whit's End, or will following God's plan require another long absence for him?

Father Tim Kavanagh has been asked to “come up higher” more than once. But he’s never been asked to do the impossible—until now. The retired Episcopal priest takes on the revival of a mountain church that’s been closed for forty years. Meanwhile, in Mitford, he’s sent on a hunt for hidden treasure, and two beloved friends are called to come up higher. As Father Tim finds, there are still plenty of heartfelt surprises, dear friends old and new, and the most important lesson of all: It’s never too late.

Description: It's the dawn of the Great Tribulation, "the bloodiest season in the history of the world." After lying in state for three days, Nicolae Carpathia has risen from the dead. As the world responds in awe, statues of the potentate and "god" are erected in every major city, and a new religion, "Carpathianism," is in full swing. Followers of the antichrist are branded with a loyalty mark on their right hands or their foreheads, and "vaccinated" with a biochip embedded with personal information. Those who refuse the mark take a one-way trip to the guillotine. The second coming of Christ is only three-and-one-half years away. But can the Tribulation Force hang on? "The God who calls you to the ultimate sacrifice will also give you the power to endure it. No one can receive the mark of the beast by accident. It is a once-and-for-all decision that will forever condemn you to eternity without God," writes Tsion Ben-Judah in his daily newsletter with its cyberaudience of more than a billion. Heavenly power may be the only hope for the Tribulation Force, as it struggles to survive amidst new terrors, the death of more loved ones, and some unexpected twists in its plans. The Mark: The Beast Rules the World is the eighth installment in the blockbuster Left Behind series. Rich in dialogue, this action-packed thriller delivers the same consistent mix of apocalyptic mayhem and quirky humor readers have come to expect from the pen of Jerry Jenkins and the prophetic interpretations of Tim LaHaye. --Cindy Crosby

Description: With its cartoon cover and simple-sounding title, one might expect this to be a superficial self-help book that cashes in on the growing interest in spiritual growth. Fortunately, author Gerald Jampolsky has far more personal integrity than that. It's clear from his thoughtful writing that he wants to offer a substantial and loving book on developing a direct relationship with God. Unfortunately, though, the abundance of overly cheerful cartoon illustrations and double exclamation marks make this look like a book that's been dumbed-down to be more accessible. Rather than inviting readers into Jampolsky's 18 excellent lessons for personal transformation, the child-like format creates a distraction. Nonetheless, the shortcuts are helpful, offering uncomplicated ways to find intimacy with spirit. Overall this is a wise and wonderful lesson book. --Gail Hudson

Description: THE PRIVATE PRAYERS OF POPE JOHN PAUL II The Rosary Hour The Rosary is an essential form of prayer for many Catholics. It offers the mysteries of Christ's life alongside those of Mary, who has always held a special place for Pope John Paul II. The Pope has said that the Rosary is his favorite prayer and his commitment to it is undiminished. "The Rosary is a prayer about Mary united with Christ in his mission as the savior. At the same time it is a prayer to Mary -- our best mediator with her Son. It is, finally, a prayer that in a special way we say with Mary, just as the Apostles at the last supper prayed with her, preparing to receive the Holy Spirit." The Rosary Hour is a celebration of the Pope's love of the prayer. It collects many of his public pronouncements and offers examples during the fifteen decades showing how the Rosary is a vibrant, living celebration of faith: "Reciting the holy Rosary is not a matter of repeating formulas but, rather, of entering into confidential conversation with Mary, speaking to her, showing her our hopes, confiding our pain, opening our heart to her, declaring to her our willingness to accept the plan of God, promising faithfulness to her in all circumstances, and especially those which are difficult and painful, sure of her protection and certain that she will obtain for us, from her Son, the grace necessary for our salvation."
