Review Summary: Informative, readable, authoritative. Date: 2005-09-23

Details: If you are interested in physiological ecology or plant ecology, get this book. I am using it for a graduate class and finding it a rewarding read. Larcher is able to combine both a breadth of knowledge and an ability to communicate these thoughts in a logical and simple manner. I should probably also thank the translator.

Review Summary: Walter made it easy and exciting !! Date: 2003-12-12

Details: I have seen reference of it in several publications and decided to put my hands on it. It's surely is a must for any terrestrial ecosystem scientists or ecologists. I would say, Walter's book is really just so exciting to read. Detailed in a lucid way with excellent sketches. Terrestrial ecology is also included by taking into account major world species. Easy to read and interlink with nicely sequenced sections and chapters. However, those specializing in tree physiology, Taiz's book may be better.
