Description: What is “Christian” about Christian education; how is it different from on-Christian education? A Theology for Christian Education examines this question in depth and argues that the doctrines of systematic theology should drive the content, purpose, and methods of the educational program of the c hurch. The book states: “Christian education is distinct from other kinds of education in that its aim is the transformation of the whole person into the likeness of Christ (Col. 1 :28). Christian education is the process of accomplishing this aim.” A Theology for Christian Education dedicates chapters to examining particular doctrines and their implications for Christian education. It is the only serious academic text to offer a systematic presentation of the intersection of theology and Christian education from a conservative evangelical perspective.

Description: - God is sovereign.
- God is perfect.
- God is immutable.
- God created everything.
- God is triune.
- The Son of God was incarnate in Jesus Christ.
The essential tenets of classical theism regarding the doctrine of God can be stated fairly easily. However, questions have been raised regarding the coherence of these beliefs taken as a whole. Some have seen fit to abandon classical theism. Others have acknowledged tensions in the traditional concept of God and have sought to resolve them by means of making significant concessions. Jay Wesley Richards believes that classical theism with its biblical norm can and ought to be maintained. He shows how a philosophical defense, using the analytical tools of modal logic, can be mounted that preserves traditional Christian beliefs. Richards astutely defends essentialism, arguing that it is both intrinsic to the Christian understanding of God and preserves the contingency of creation and the God-world relation. To further clarify and defend his proposal he engages appreciatively and critically the thought of Karl Barth and Charles Hartshorne as well as addressing the related and currently debated matters of divine simplicity and immutability.

Description: Recent years have seen a growing interest in the intersection of biblical studies and theology. Scripture's Doctrine and Theology's Bible is a collection of essays by world-class biblical and systematic theologians. At the core of the book and of each essay is this fundamental question: To what extent, and on what grounds, does the New Testament shape and prescribe Christian theology? As the contributors explore this question, they creatively engage with various doctrines, interpreters, and practices. This illuminating book will appeal to pastors and students interested in the integration of biblical studies and theology for the benefit of the church.

Description: Theological reflection is a distinct form of theologizing that has emerged over the last twenty-five years, explains Robert L. Kinast in the introduction to this WATSA book. Working out of specific contexts, theological reflection begins with lived experience, correlates this experience with the sources of Christian faith and aims at practical action. Kinast examines five distinct styles of theological reflection: ministerial, spiritual wisdom, feminist, inculturation and practical theology. He analyzes each of these styles in terms of the type of experience it favors, the way it connects this experience to theology, and what sort of praxis it envisions. The end result is a succinct overview of this wide-ranging and diverse approach to theology that will add to the knowledge and understanding of theologians, church personnel and students of theology.

Description: If God is all-knowing and all-powerful, can he in any way be vulnerable to his creation? Can God be in control of anything at all if he is not constantly in control of everything? In The God Who Risks, John Sanders mounts a careful and challenging argument for positive answers to both of these profound theological questions. In this thoroughly revised edition, Sanders clarifies his position and responds to his critics. His book not only will contribute to serious ongoing theological discussion but will enlighten pastors and laypersons who struggle with questions about suffering, evil and human free will.
