Description: Bianca Scacciati has now been introduced to the modern generation via the NAXOS reissue of her well presented Leonora in Verdi's Il Trovatore. That is a superb set but critics were not easy on Scacciati's vocal sounds while praising her dramatic intention. Indeed, her voice is very forward but there is a warmth and vulnerability inherent to it. I like the sound. Her voice is seamlessly produced, as such her rendition of Si, mi chiamano Mimi, which one would never associate with such a voice, is sung with melting beauty, her words flowing like hot golden lava. In fact, she is second to none in this aria as well as in arias from Loreley, Forza, and Chenier.

In Questa Reggia is in a league by itself...unsurpassed!

For the sake of buyers, I shall present a comparison to more famous singers. She is most like Rosa Ponselle in both tone and agility (which is awesome) but the size of her voice seems more like an Eva Turner. (Perhaps a hair bigger (not necessarily louder) than Birgit Nilsson.
