Description: 7TH HEAVEN centers around the Camdens, a tight-knit family living in Glenoak, California, and consisting of minister dad Eric, homemaker mom Annie, and their five children: Matt, Mary, Lucy, Simon and Ruthie and their adorable dog, Happy. The series chronicles the many complex issues of growing up in the world today, and the Camden family tackles these issues head-on. Unafraid of intervening in the lives of their children, Eric and Annie discuss serious issues with them in an effort to educate them on the ways of the world. The family remains a tight unit as a result of their love for one another, and their faith in God.

Details: Amazon needs to clean up their act. I bought the 1st season of 7th Heaven, then discovered that it offered no sub-titles, which I need. So I went back into Amazon to see if any season offered sub-titles, and lo-and-behold, the description of Season Two said, "Sub-titled". Hallelulia! (Look and see for yourselves.) So I ordered it, greatly anticipating its arrival, for it's a wonderful, clean, family show, and the star, Stephen Collins, is my 2nd cousin! It arrived today. I eagerly tore off the envelope & put on disc one; clicked on "set-up", but the only option was for AUDIO languages, English or French! NO SUB-TITLES! The Amazon description therefore is not true!!! So if you need subtitles, don't buy any of the 7th Heaven seasons, unless you don't mind not understanding much of the dialogue. I have checked out the other seasons, finding that none of them offer sub-titles. No use to me, therefore. |

Details: I was hesitant to buy this show's DVDs--is it appropriate to watch with a child around? Now that I did view them, I wish there were more. The first season is our favorite, the second is next. As a mother to a ten year old girl, I got some good ideas about how to handle my child, and she got to see how good parents handle situations. There are some issues that came up in episodes that I never thought to discuss with my daughter, and so it was perfect for us to watch together. One issue per episode is shown from different points of view at the different levels of the family members -it gets one thinking. There is a bit of emphasis on dating, but that's probably what keeps people of all ages watching and it's done tastefully. These seasons have been enjoyable for our whole family. |
