Description: Pronunciation Tasks is a new book for pre-intermediate learners providing comprehensive coverage of all aspects of English pronunciation. The 66 units are grouped under eight main headings: vowels, consonants, consonant clusters, syllables and stress, sounds and connected speech, intonation, sounds and grammar, and letters and sounds, ensuring that the pronunciation needs of all major first language groups are met. Each unit in Pronunciation Tasks is designed to take 15 to 25 minutes of classroom time and the methodology reflects the varied and stimulating activities found in communicative classrooms. For example, learners are asked to perform communicative tasks, analyse pronunciation and work out rules. The vocabulary used to illustrate sounds is drawn from the word lists provided in elementary and lower-intermediate course books and the example dialogues and texts present a real-world use of language. Pronunciation Tasks is suitable for use as a supplement to any main coursebook and the flexible structure of the material means that it can be used on both intensive and part-time courses. The units can be used in any order and so teachers can select those parts of the book which best suit their learners' needs. Many of the activities can also be used with students at a higher level. The Teacher's Book contains concise and helpful background information, suggestions on how to use the materials in class and ideas for extension activities. The answer keys and transcripts appear in both the Student's Book and the Teacher's Book.

At the same time, it is rich in both formal and informal American expressions. And it contains exercises and cultural notes prompted, for the most part, by questions from students themselves. The program is now in its second edition. It has been based on and proven successful during years of work with students from many countries. Softcover textbook with 6 audio CDs.

Description: This unusual and charmingly illustrated English-Spanish dictionary for children teaches kids more than single words—it teaches them complete simple sentences in two languages! Still another unusual feature in this book is its very useful arrangement of sentences into 62 separate themes. Each theme relates to familiar objects and activities in a typical child’s life, and each theme is presented as a color-illustrated two-page spread. For example, on the spread labeled Breakfast/Desayuno, young readers will see six illustrations of typical morning scenes showing Mom and children. Each scene has a descriptive caption in both English and Spanish. One of them shows two kids at the breakfast table, and reads: Tom and Lily like cereal very much. A Tom y Lily les gustan mucho los cereales. Other bilingual themes include The House/La Casa, Games/Juegos, Toys/Juguetes, Clothes/Ropa, A new baby at home/Un bebe en casa, and many others. Here is a delightful, child-friendly introduction to a second language for younger children. English-speaking kids learn Spanish, and Spanish-speaking kids learn English.

Description: This book provides a comprehensive account of conversation in English and its implications for the ELT classroom. After a general overview and definition of conversation it provides the reader with a systematic description of conversational English, from the vocabulary of conversation, to grammar, discourse and genre. This is followed by an informed account of the development of conversation in both first and second language acquisition. It then describes a range of methodological approaches, procedures and techniques for teaching conversation in English. On this basis, an integrated approach to the teaching of conversation is provided, along with practical classroom applications.

Description: Talk Time is a three-level conversation course that provides speaking and listening practice based on everyday situations. Gentle progression of communicative activities in each lesson makes it ideal for less confident students. The Student CD, included at the back of the Student Book, contains recordings of the conversations to provide students with listening practice outside of the classroom.
