Description: After years of spiritual study and reflection, inspirational speaker and bestselling author Wayne Dyer has emerged a highly esteemed teacher. His current message about tapping into the power of intention may sound like good old positive thinking: just stay focused on what you want, rather than focusing on the lack of having what you want. But the teaching here goes deeper than just controlling thoughts (although he does acknowledge that thought control is a surprisingly challenging and significant endeavor). This book might help readers land a better job, but it's more relevant for those who are ready to detach from an ego-driven life filled with quick fixes of happiness and step into a more authentic, joyful, and spiritually fulfilling life. His core teachings speak to tapping into a universal source of energy that can also be called the "power of intention." He calls people who are consciously co-creating with this energy source "connectors" and describes them as "individuals who have made themselves available for success...They don't say With my luck things won't work out. Instead, you’re more likely to hear something like, I intend to create this and I know it will work out." Connectors are also committed to Dyer's "seven faces of intention"--creativity, kindness, love, beauty, expansion, abundance and receptivity, which he speaks to throughout the book. Each chapter concludes with five suggestions for becoming stronger connectors, such as how to monitor one's inner speech or shift out of low-energy beliefs. Some criticize Dyer for not giving credit to other teachers who offer this same message, especially Jerry and Esther Hicks (A New Beginning I) and even Ralph Waldo Emerson. It's impossible to know whether this was a deliberate omission, but it is obvious that Dyer has tapped into a growing conversation about co-creating with "source." Other leading-edge voices in this conversation include Eckhart Tolle (The Power of Now), Shakti Gawain (Creative Visualization ) and Lynn Grabhorn (Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting). --Gail Hudson

Review Summary: Simply Remarkable |

Details: Dr. Wayne Dyer's works are truly remarkable. The Power of Intension is no exception in my opinion. Dyer, never makes any attempt to claim that he discovered, or has any rights to the concept, in fact Dyer is simply translating the most ancient phylisophical ideas into words that we, as Westerners can comprhend. If read thoughtfully Dyer explains that despite the most horribe occurances that can befall us such as death, natural disaster, etc. that these events happen for a reason that often times leads us toward our vision (for good, or for bad). Although what Dyer has to say is not unique, it is undeniably a universal truth that offers a refreshing alternative to living every day as you did the day before. In this book Dyer offers thinking strategies that will help you appreciate the true blessing of what it means to be alive and the joy and curiousity that you haven't felt since you were a child. |

Review Summary: Getting past Dr Dyer |
Date: 2008-10-12 |

| |
Details: I came across "The Power of Intention" for the first time a couple of years ago and was impressed by the contradictory nature of Dr Dyer. He appeared utterly ego-centric while advising us of the importance of giving up this very way of thinking. In addition, he seemed to place an emphasis on "success" that seemed very worldly indeed. This angered me, and I dismissed him out-of-hand.
A couple of years later I watched the same program, listening closely to what he was trying to teach rather than listening to him. His program was quite thought-provoking and inspirational for me, a person with limited exposure to the ideas he presented. Dr Dyer's synthesis of his own extensive reading list brings a sense of joy to the process of spiritual growth. His very human presentation reminds us that while not perfect, we can bring many good things to our lives and the lives of others. |

Review Summary: Wow...this book is perfect in every way |

Details: I just bought this book in cd version and I'm LOVING it. I'm getting over a Power Of Now trip that I had been on which basically involved thinking that the present is all there is and nothing else matters. I actually owed this book and threw it away along with many others because of my spiritual breakthrough with Echarts work.
This book is linking up unseen events and really confirms my feelings of the unknown. Things just seem to work out for me and my life gets better and better because I'm going against the grain. Thought is very powerful...I had thought that it was useless to a large degree, but now I'm back on track. This book is beyond valuable...worth more than its weight in gold.
Please get this book and allow your mind to soak in the wisdom and guidance. |
