Description: As a result of the work of the American Civil Liberties Union and their war on America, we now live in a country where the church has been progressively silenced, parental authority has been undermined, children are less safe, and human life continues to be cheapened-both at birth and death. While the ACLU and its allies in the media have positioned themselves as the great defenders of freedom, they are in reality eliminating the freedoms of millions of Americans. Sadly, most Americans are unaware of the extreme positions of the ACLU.

But there is hope. Many Americans are waking up to the dangerous agenda of the ACLU. The ACLUvs. America will clue readers in to the culture wars afoot and will equip them to become effective agents for liberty and freedom against the ACLU's onslaught.

Review Summary: A Revealing Expose` Date: 2006-11-19

Details: The book exposes the origin, philosophies and the agenda of the ACLU. A truly revealing expose` of an organization that has been masquerading as one that might be working for the benefits of a freedom loving people of our great nation. But .... are they really? This book reveals what is really happening.

Review Summary: Well worth the price Date: 2006-11-11

Details: A good reference for those facing or worried about ACLU litigation and an enjoyable read. This isn't the book if you are looking for a detailed history of Roger Baldwin, Corliss Lamont, William Z. Foster and other ACLU members. Mostly the book deals with the ACLU after 1970 (mentioning, for instance, the ACLU spying on Henry Hyde in that decade). Those not aware of what the ACLU is will undoubtedly be stunned. Those who follow the civil rights group will have read some of what is in the book but should find enough new information to justify the purchase. Also nice to have this information all in one place.

Review Summary: Exposing the "exposers" of the ACLU Date: 2006-06-25

Details: I was amazed to hear Rush Limbaugh criticizing the ACLU recently; this, despite the fact that the ACLU worked to keep his medical records private during his Oxycontin scandal. The ACLU assists many people across the political spectrum. Simply visit their website. You'll find they're involved in all sorts of important struggles. I'm sure people won't sympathize with all their efforts, but don't let the points of disagreement become the reason to dismiss the entire institution. If people were to investigate the people who "expose" the ACLU, I think they'd be horrified by the agenda of those who try to weaken civil liberties organizations. The ACLU bashers are often pushing for a more authoritarian nation, where the only values would be corporate imperatives, or the values of a police state.
For a more honest look at what institutions are redefining moral values, I'd recommend the DVDs "The Corporation" and Eugene Jarecki's "Why We Fight." Our morals are being redefined by the power elite, not by the ACLU.

Review Summary: Christian Crusaders March On Date: 2006-06-16

Details: When reading this book one needs to keep in perspective who the author is. Alan Sears is President and CEO of the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF). The ADR is a right wing Christian legal organization that was founded by Christian churches and organizations to promote religious conservative values through litigation. According to their web site, one of their objectives is to destroy the ACLU. They deal exclusively with "Christian Moral Values" they do not deal with a broad spectrum of civil liberty issues like the ACLU does. So this anti-ACLU book is written from this perspective.

Some of the criticisms of the ACLU are fair. The ACLU tends to take an absolutist view of rights and can take some issues to extremes as well as having money and using intimidation. But for the most part after reading the book, I fear the ADF more than the ACLU. The ADF is also well funded and uses intimidation. They have a very narrow and closed minded perspective. So where the ACLU maybe too liberal with rights, the ADF is too restrictive. The ADF wants to impose their Christian moral values on you and society through litigation. The ADF accuses the ACLU of having an agenda, but ADF has their own agenda. In other words the ADF is the right wing equal to the ACLU - but worse.

I am familiar some of the ACLU cases cited and in my opinion; the ACLU position is grossly misrepresented. They spin and interpret cases to make their point. They are selective in the cases they choose. There are many cases where the ACLU has defended individual religious liberties. But they are omitted. They see evil in the ACLU where none exists. After all, the ADF is on a mission from God to fight evil.

Review Summary: Right-wing, anti-American nonsense Date: 2006-05-30

Details: The reactionary authors of this book, as well as many of the reviewers on this page, apparently believe that there is nothing at all wrong with forcing their religious views on others. They castigate the ACLU, probably the finest organization in America, for defending civil rights they would rather see stripped away. The authors seize upon some sensationalistic, controversial cases the ACLU has defended, while ignoring the vast amount of good the ACLU has done for society. Although the authors ignore the fact, the ACLU has defended both the left AND the right in many cases. Ironically, if it ever came to pass, the ACLU would also certainly fight for the right of the authors to spread their lies through this book.

This book is written from a far right-wing viewpoint by people who want America to be a church-run theocracy, forcing all minorities to bend to the will of the religious majority. Sorry, but that is the reason our forebearers fled to this country--to escape the religious persecution the authors and most of the reviewers on this page would like to force down the throats of the American people. As the old saying goes, if you want a theocracy, go to Iran. The last time religion reigned was during the dark ages, when religious ignorance was more powerful than reason. The authors would love to return our society to the dark ages.

The ACLU is a beacon of hope and freedom in these dark times. Join today to protect your freedoms and fight the cowards who would strip them away.
