Review Summary: Entertaining with a fresh perspective. Date: 2008-09-01

Details: Margaret Feinberg is a great story teller and communicator. She has a fresh approach in her delivery. Her faith is pure and her message is believable. This is a great read for a relaxing vacation or even just some time away from the "daily grind". My favorite part - her own life story woven into the fabric of the message.

Review Summary: Back to the Basics Date: 2008-08-19

Details: The Organic God is one of the best books I've read lately. I admit I read mostly books dealing with my faith and I'm always on the lookout for a good multi-generational women's Bible study and I found it in The Organic God. First of all, Margaret writes in a way that is clear and easy to understand. It's like she's talking to you the entire time. Our church is getting ready to do the Bible study that goes along with the book and I am thrilled. Sometimes we just need to get back to the basics and not make our Christian lives more difficult than they already are. Margaret is very true to scripture and that is extremely important to me. There's enough confusion out there in the world already. The sound track, rainy day reflections and behind the scenes at the end of the book are truly an added bonus to an already great read.

Review Summary: Walking it out... Date: 2008-03-30

Details: Really enjoying joining Margaret on her "journey" of re-processing and re-discovering God through scripture and through her own life experiences. There's a poetic way to her prose that goes works. Just felt real and personable, like a series of conversations over coffee at the kitchen table.

Review Summary: More autobiography than anythng Date: 2008-02-11

Details: This book takes you through the spiritual journey of the author. It was not what I expected at all. The examples of the organic qualities of God were from her own life only, and sometimes too narrow to translate into how I can learn more about God in general. Slow to read at times.

Review Summary: Rich Exploration of God's Character Date: 2007-08-17

Details: In her book's opening line, Alaskan author Feinberg writes, "The northern lights danced with all the mystery and marvel of midnight rainbows in the sky."

This warm invitation beckons readers to enjoy the natural beauty of her home state as a reflection of the "breathtakingly beautiful" attributes of God.

The daughter of a Jewish father and non-Jewish mother, both born-again believers, Feinberg challenges readers to dig deeply into Scripture using a technique called midrash, a Hebrew word meaning to "search out."

She writes, "...Jewish midrash urges us to take hold of a passage, wrestle with it, and not let go until we're worn out and forcibly must cry uncle."

As she explores nine attributes of God's character, her Scriptural knowledge and depth of insight make this book one to be savored like a rich cup of coffee.

The author's quirky stories of her childhood and struggles as an unsettled 20-something are good springboards for the discussion questions included, making this a useful tool for both individual and group study.
