Details: This book makes me laugh so hard, I cry tears. Dershowitz is truly a funny guy.

Review Summary: Very convincing! Date: 2008-10-23

Details: I have just finished reading "The Case for Israel" which is authored by none other than the noted jurist Mr. Alan Dershowitz. Mr. Dershowitz presents some of the more serious accusations and criticisms leveled against Israel and presents rather compelling evidence to refute such baseless and unwarranted arguments. Mr. Dershowitz does believe that criticism can justifiably be presented against Israel in those cases where excesses are clearly indicated but what he does find fault with are those accusations based purely on the distorted, inaccurate and clearly biased information of those that present such mainly for reasons that must be labeled as anti-semitic. In my honest opinion Mr. Dershowitz's refutations effectively demolishes those more serious accusations leveled against Israel and its supporters which he presents in this book. Any supporter of Israel cannot help but be better prepared by reading this book to help guard against uninformed decisions regarding any criticism concerning Israel. The one point that I have found fault with is where Mr. Dershowitz wrote: "Jewish biblical claims must be abandoned in the name of pragmatic compromise, just as Islamic Koranic claims must be surrendered." No one must be willing to compromise in any way what they believe is theirs by divine right, nor should they. If Mr. Dershowitz is actually entertaining any hope that this will happen then I cannot help but believe that he is being rather naïve. Mr. Dershowitz is not dealing with Episcopalians here! All in all a good read but a bit dry because of the way it's written.

Review Summary: Complete Fabrication Date: 2008-08-29

Details: This book is full of lies and contradictions. I cannot believe that someone had actual published this book. It is also mostly plagiarized. If you believe what is in this book, you are completely ignorant on Middle East issues. Buy real books like the Case for Palestine, Israel Lobby, and Peace not Apartheid.

Review Summary: Don't know what to think of it all Date: 2008-07-15

Details: I have always been an ardent supporter of a Jewish/Israeli State and a Palestinian State and reading this book only affirms my heart felt sympathy for the suffering of Jewish people around the world because of their religion. I am defiantly not for terrorism, because it is a result of the Palestinian leader's inability to compromise forcing its people to act irrationally against Israel and pretty soon against all people around the world (it is a barbaric act). This book is not very scholarly. The author has chosen only a few sources to rebuttal his arguments towards. There has to be the other side too. The other side seems like a betrayal. The Palestinian people obviously did not have enough resources to purchase lands held by landowners to establish businesses for themselves in their land prior to Jewish people coming in and purchasing them, this seems to be a sad thing reflecting a superiority of money rather than culture and yes the Jewish people did do a lot for the region with their financial investments in hospitals and infrastructure but that still leaves the poor Palestinians in the whims of somebody and that is it's arrogant, barbaric leader, and the reality that now they may not have a choice but to accept living in Israel for security if anything else.

So it comes down to this, they both need a home.

Review Summary: Simple Propaganda Date: 2008-06-30

Details: This book is a perfect example of twisted, convoluted logic and obfuscation of fact that is used to defend the indefensible.

Nothing can justify the on-going oppression, racial discrimination and genocide the state of Israel employs against the indigenous Palestinians under its control.

Dershowitz does not make any 'case' for Israel. There are no excuses, no extenuating facts nor extrapolation of facts that can excuse the behavior of this racist, apartheid state and the author's attempts to do so via this book remind me of a similar individual who met his end at Nuremberg - Julius Streicher. Both The Case for Israel and Der Sturmer share the same, infamous logic.

Israel does have a right to exist. That is only fair as it is too late for any other solution but it must exist as a pluralistic, egalitarian society that includes indigenous Palestinians. It must also peacefully evacuate the occupied territories and East Jerusalem by voluntarily returning to its pre-1967 frontiers.

That fact that Dershowitz fails to understand these simple fundamentals to peace and prosperity in which all groups can partake is testimony to his bigoted narrow-mindedness.
