Description: Also known as the "Records of Ancient Matters," this is the "official" story of the Japanese peoples, first written down in the 8th century and documenting the creation of the world, the gods, and Japan. The oldest known document in the Japanese language, this is a vital text of the Shinto religion, a beautiful evocation of the mythology and traditions of ancient Japan. This edition also includes the Yengishiki, a compilation of Shinto rituals, including "The Harvest Ritual," "The Ritual for the Wind-Gods," "The Ritual for EvilSpirits," and others.

Review Summary: Abriged?
Date: 2008-06-14
Details: Nowhere in the product description does it say this text is abridged.
BUT at a mere 70 or so pages, this clearly does not contain the complete text of the Kojiki since the other Translation has over 300 pages.
I can find nowhere on Amazon that this text is shortened, nor in the book itself.. and yet it is impossible to condense 300 pages into the 44 pages which contain the text of the Kojiki in this book. I do not recommend buying it if you are looking for the full text, only if you want a brief, and i mean very brief, overview of the actual text.
